Wines

The Corbières appellation is the largest appellation in Languedoc and includes terroirs with varied geological and climatic characteristics. It is mainly on the Boutenac terroir that the 25 hectares of vines of Château Maylandie are grown. The grape varieties of Château Maylandie are essentially composed of Grenache noir, Syrah and Carignan. In addition to these three majority grape varieties, it also includes Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Grenache Blanc, Bourboulenc and Vermentino.

The Boutenac appellation was born in 2005. This AOC classified as vintage only concerns red wines and only four grape varieties can be used in the composition of its wines: Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Also, the production rules for Boutenac are more restrictive than those for Corbières.

Thanks to a mainly southern exposure, to roots on clay-limestone hillsides and to the control of their yields (between 25 and 45 hl/ha), these grape varieties give the wines of Château Maylandie aromas of small red fruits, white-fleshed fruits and spices. The 10 vintages of Château Maylandie thus offer a complementary range.
