Our 25-hectare family vineyard is located in the heart of the Corbi\u00e8res<\/strong>, in the Boutenac<\/strong> terroir, between Carcassonne<\/strong> and Narbonne<\/strong>, and more widely in the Toulouse-Montpellier-Perpignan<\/strong> triangle.<\/p>\n

We are independent winegrowers<\/strong> and cultivate our vines with respect for the environment(High Environmental Value certification<\/strong>). We produce white, ros\u00e9 and red wines in AOC Corbi\u00e8res<\/strong> and AOC Corbi\u00e8res-Boutenac<\/strong> (one of the Languedoc Crus), and make around ten quality cuv\u00e9es (based on our fruit-freshness-balance credo) that regularly win awards from wine guides and competitions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

All year round, we welcome you to our domaine, our tasting cellar<\/strong> and our 3 vacation homes<\/strong>, all within easy reach and 4 km from the L\u00e9zignan toll booth<\/strong> (exit 25 on the A61).<\/p>\n

Most of the vineyards<\/strong> are located within a 4 km radius of the estate<\/strong>, on hillsides. The wine-making cellar<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our winery<\/strong> used to be a small distillery<\/strong>. It is equipped with two presses (to ensure high ros\u00e9 production) and two refrigeration units<\/strong>. We use different gases to protect the juices and wines from oxidation, so as to use as little sulfite as possible<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Having toured the museum where I’d been working for 3 years, and driven by the desire to work on my own in a creative profession<\/strong> while remaining in the countryside<\/strong>, between the sea<\/strong> and the mountains<\/strong>, I finally realized at the age of 27 that coming to work alongside my parents<\/strong> and eventually taking over was the right choice!<\/p>\n

As luck would have it, just before I took over the reins of the estate, I met up with Eric<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, an old college friend. He went from “old” to “little”, and I quickly brought him back to the Corbi\u00e8res to join me in this crazy adventure<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From water to wine… or how to get your shirt wet!<\/p>\n

In 2008, Eric Virion gave up his finance job at Veolia Water in Paris<\/strong> to join his partner Delphine in the Corbi\u00e8res<\/strong>, and help her take over the family winery<\/strong>. Since then, he has continued to put his skills and drive to work for Maylandie…<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 Vignes<\/strong>. Since 1999, the estate has been practicing integrated farming, and recently obtained High Environmental Value<\/strong> certification. It also applies a number of organic<\/strong> precepts, such as mating disruption<\/strong>, powdering<\/em> and natural soil fertilization<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 Cave<\/strong>. As soon as he arrived, the style and segmentation of the wines were rethought and new cuv\u00e9es created<\/strong>. Maylandie offers a dozen cuv\u00e9es in three ranges: Le Cabanon<\/strong> in white, ros\u00e9 and red, light, fruity wines; Les Exquises Esquisses<\/strong> in white, ros\u00e9 and red, gourmet cuv\u00e9es<\/strong>; and three red wines from the Boutenac terroir: Les F\u00e9rals<\/strong>, Peta\u00e7s<\/strong>, Villa Ferrae<\/strong> and Carnache<\/strong>. Each cuv\u00e9e has its own history and character, and the wines are regularly awarded medals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the marketing side<\/strong>. Every year, Ch\u00e2teau Maylandie takes part in a dozen wine and gastronomy fairs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 Vie syndicale<\/strong>. Eric’s nose is often to be found in technical dossiers concerning, for example, the ISO 26000 standard<\/strong> for Corbi\u00e8res, therecognition of Cru Boutenac by the INAO<\/strong>,irrigation<\/strong>, sexual confusion<\/strong>…<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The history of the estate<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jacques Maymil<\/strong> (Delphine’s grandfather, 1920-2010), an entrepreneur from Narbonne with a passion for viticulture<\/strong>, began acquiring the buildings and some vines in Ferrals<\/strong>, a small village in the Corbi\u00e8res<\/strong> where his mother came from, in the 1950s. He took his harvest to the village cooperative cellar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Then, in 1975, his son Jean Maymil<\/strong> (Delphine’s father, 1947) and his wife Anne-Marie<\/strong> decided to invest in the family vineyard<\/strong>, which at the time covered some 30 hectares<\/strong>. In 1987, two years after the creation of theCorbi\u00e8res A.O.C.<\/strong> by the INAO, he set up his own winery, marketing his production under his own brand: ” Ch\u00e2teau Maylandie<\/strong> “. The name ” Maylandie <\/strong>” is a contraction of ” MAYmil <\/strong>” and ” LANdroDIE <\/strong>“, his wife’s maiden name.
At the same time, he focused on quality grape varieties<\/strong>, uprooting almost all the high-yielding vines (for table wine) and replanting the sunny slopes with better varieties, mainly Grenache Noir<\/strong> and Syrah<\/strong>.
Since 1999, Jean Maymil has been committed to “Agriculture Raisonn\u00e9e”<\/strong> (Vitealys\u00ae<\/strong>) in order to better respect nature and the consumer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

After studies in communications and professional experience in the art world, followed later by training in viticulture\/oenology and winemaking in Australia, Delphine Maymil<\/strong> (1975) took over management of the family estate<\/strong> in 2007 with her partner Eric Virion (1975). A native of the Corbi\u00e8res<\/strong> and the grandson of winegrowers<\/strong>, he was previously a management controller in… the water industry<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
